Falling in love or the possible wonder
2010, 360x150x40 cm, metal blinds, various lamps

In front of the familiarity of the objects or the material used, you first feel reassurance.
Then a trip occurs, a subtle trip to dream and fantasy. Not one of those trips that reassure or call upon your desires , but rather those that appeal to our drives and our frustrations.
Here the objects and material are considered as a common sense vehicle.
« What is to be examined, it's brick, concrete, glass, our eating ceremony, our ustensils, our tools, our timetables, our rythms. Examine what seems to have stopped surprising us forever. Interrogate your teaspoons. What is under your wallpaper ?" G. Perec
In Pertubated regret , it is a rage drive ( in tribute to Arman) that blows up in a room. Then, straight after, a regret that, as a clumsy child would do, gathers every pieces into a mimèsis of reality. Here we delve into a phenomenon of destruction/guilt/repairs, in which it is imperative to fix the pulsional action to overstep.
Shhhhhh.  chime that hushes forever, stuck in a concrete base, evokes this irritating object torn from our neighbour's window. Claming silence as a supreme value. Then an intricacy of reality and fantasy is revealed, in which acting out comes under survival.
It is about revealing the common, the flaws, what we do not know or what we hide. It is a process of inner trip, inside consciousness, where we find the roots and the memories everybody shares... Thus, I invite to enter into our collective unconscious in which the common becomes sublime.

BIO
Stephanie Ruiz, born in 1979, lives and works in Marseille.
Always driven by literature, philosophy, theater and crafts, Stephanie earned a degree in advertising in 1999, she left this buisness a few years later, disappointed.
In 2003, she was amazed by Sophie Calle retrospective at the Pompidou Centre, Paris and understood that all her practices can come together in art.
In 2005, she joined the Fine Arts School of Marseille where she practices objects sculpture. A study trip to Finland in 2008 opened her practice in happenings and video, and confirmed that her inspiration came from humans through. She studied five years and got a DNSEP degree in 2010.
After graduating Stephanie worked in a gallery and as a scenographer assistant for a year and a half. She works in Atelier de Lorette since august 2012.
